Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I’ve used a lot of diagnostic scanners over the years, and the KINGBOLEN S6 Elite honestly impressed me right out of the box. This is a very advanced scan tool that gives you access to virtually all vehicle systems, not just basic engine codes. One example: we had a vehicle come into our small automotive shop with an all-around camera system malfunction. One of the cameras wasn’t working, and instead of sending the customer straight to the dealership, we were able to use the S6 Elite to scan all systems, pinpoint the fault, and diagnose the issue in-house. That alone saved the customer a ton of money and time, and it paid for the tool in my mind. The scanner does a full system scan, has a wide range of maintenance reset functions, and the live data streams are clear and easy to read. Being able to see real-time data across different modules makes diagnostics much more efficient and helps you know exactly where to start your actual repair work instead of guessing. This is truly a powerful tool that cuts down diagnostic time significantly. Whether you’re running a mechanic shop, doing serious DIY work, or just want professional-level insight into your vehicle, I highly recommend the KINGBOLEN S6 Elite. It’s well worth the investment.”

Customer Review: “I’ve used this scanner on a variety of vehicles — Honda Accord, Subaru WRX, Volkswagen Passat, and a Ford F-150 — and it performed reliably on all of them. Whether dealing with everyday passenger cars or a full-size pickup, it consistently located and cleared fault codes with no hiccups. One of the standout features is how straightforward it is to operate. The scanner connects easily to the OBD2 port, and the interface guides you through scans without any guesswork. This makes it accessible whether you’re a seasoned DIYer or someone doing basic diagnostics for the first time.Across all test vehicles, the scanner successfully identified codes that corresponded with expected issues, and clearing them was simple and effective. For most typical engine codes and system faults, it provided accurate readings and allowed resets smoothly. This isn’t just a basic “plug-and-clear” reader — it offers broad diagnostic functions that are useful for serious enthusiasts or professional use. It supports full system scans and different reset services, meaning you can diagnose beyond just check engine lights (e.g., system readiness) — similar to what more advanced toolsThe hardware feels robust, and the software navigation is responsive. It handled extended scanning sessions without freezing or lagging. The lifetime update support advertised is a nice bonus, helping the scanner stay current with newer vehicle protocolsOverall, this scanner strikes an excellent balance between usability and capability. If you work on your own vehicles, want to save diagnostic fees, or need a more robust tool for a professional shop, this unit delivers solid performance. It’s intuitive enough for the average car enthusiast but powerful enough to support deeper diagnostics when you need it.Would highly recommend it as a reliable diagnostic companion for most OBD2-equipped vehicles (1996 and newer) — a great addition to any garage.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “The Ultimate Diagnostic Powerhouse (5/5 Stars) I’ve used several scanners, but the Innova 5610 is in a league of its own. It’s not just a code reader; it’s a professional-grade diagnostic tool that saves me hundreds in dealership fees. What I Love: Bidirectional Control: This is the game-changer. I can actually send commands to the car—like testing the fuel pump, AC clutch, or electronic parking brakes—to see exactly what’s failing before I start pulling parts. Dealership-Level Features: It handles advanced tasks like ABS bleeding, battery initialization, and oil light resets that most consumer scanners can’t touch. Comprehensive Coverage: It provides enhanced diagnostics for ABS, SRS (airbags), transmission, and engine systems across almost all vehicles from 1996 and newer. Repair Integration: The Bluetooth pairing with the RepairSolutions 2 app is seamless, giving me access to a massive database of verified fixes for the specific codes it finds. Verdict: If you’re a serious DIYer or a mechanic who wants dealership-level calibration and relearn capabilities at a fraction of the cost, this is the one to get. It’s robust, fast, and incredibly intuitive.”

Customer Review: “The 2025 Kingbolen Ediag Elite OBD2 scanner came in a sleek/modern design. It arrived inside its own little case and was nicely packaged. The black and silver reinvented design was somewhat appealing, but mostly the lifetime free software update (no yearly renewal) was the deal breaker for me. The device came packed with all vehicle systems, 15 service resets, and lifetime free software update. It seems solid enough although not rubberized on the outside like the other Ediag. Instructions on how to install the Ediag app and create an account to activate the device were included in the box. When the device is plugged into the OBD2 port of the car, it shows a green light; once you access the Ediag app and tap any function, the light turns blue. The first time, you may have to wait a little for the system to be updated for your specific vehicle. Then, you can run a health test that will show you the overall state of your vehicle while pinpointing each specific issue. You have the option to save the findings as a report or PDF file and they will be saved in the app icon titled “Reports”; it also has an app icon titled “History” that contains all the vehicles that you have diagnosed with the scanner. This is an amazing device for that price and it comes with so many perks. While I wish that the manufacturer would have kept the outside rubber cover in the Ediag Elite design for added protection, I really like the modern look of the device. When not in use, I will make sure to keep the device in its hard case so that it lasts a long time allowing me to enjoy the free lifetime updates. Currently, the cost of the device is around $100 on Amazon. For the things I was able to observe, do, and even manipulate in my vehicles with the Ediag Elite (easily turned off that TPMS light), it is worth every penny in my opinion. This device can access the immobilizer to program keys for some (not all) vehicles. The special functions I tested all worked well and without any issue. At this price and for the time being, I think that it is fair to give this device a rating of 4.75 out 5 as it meets expectations for functionality, connectivity, ease of use, portability, and level of accuracy. If the outside of the device was rubberized, I would have definitely given it the full 5 stars in my first impression review. I will report back if I see any change in these expectations as I continue to use the device.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “Works great goes more in depth about what can cause that certain code on your vehicle. To be able to use the 02 tester and the mode 8 you would need a newer vehicle maybe 2020 and up the vehicles I used it were from the 2000s and 2010s. I could not for some reason find out how to see what cylinders are misfiring I could be looking in the wrong place, but for new mechanics or someone who wants to know about cars it’s a good scanner especially for the price. It’s really easy to use and read.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “Just like the title says, this is a great diagnostic tool! And the price? Hard to beat for what you get with this unit, particularly because it’s currently on sale as I’m writing this review. I tested this tool on my 3 vehicles without any issues. Two of them had zero codes, but one needed a service reset which was a breeze with the S608. On my Range Rover, I was able to successfully diagnose a bad connection to the SRS (air bag) on the driver’s side. I’ve known about this issue, but the S608 was able to quickly confirm it. I reset the code with ease. I’ll add some pros and cons (yes, there are some) below, but here’s a couple highlights. What I like most is how easy it is to use. It boots right up to the main screen with nice large icons. The physical buttons on the right are a nice touch that add to the experience, instead being an unnecessary throwback to the old school diag tools. They have a good, solid feel to them and respond well. The menus are simple and straightforward, and that’s a good thing. I never felt like I had to search for any functions. The live data streams work great and the ability to graph them is a huge bonus. This tool has a lot of premium features more commonplace on expensive units, hence the great value. The lifetime software updates blew my mind. Almost no one does that. It’s a little ridiculous that you pay $1000+ for a high-functioning scanner, then get hit with subscription fees of hundreds of dollars a year after your initial subscription period ends. You literally never have to worry about that here and that’s amazing. Lastly the hardware/software combo is perfect as I never experienced any lag. I have a $1300 tool by a different manufacturer and this one blows that away in terms of speed. Granted the $1300 tool performs many more functions, but it’s a chore to use waiting for menus to come up. Not so, here. This will be my go-to for every day use while my other more expensive tool will be used mainly for complex diagnostics and for troubleshooting other systems not covered by this unit. The S608 is perfect for a DIY home mechanic looking for a versatile diagnostic tool that’s a great value. The S608 will handle what 95% of home mechanics need.”

Customer Review: “Has exceeded my expectations for the price and features it offers. Right out of the box, it feels solid and well-built, with a rugged design that’s perfect for garage use. The screen is bright, clear. Setup is quick and straightforward. The touchscreen interface is smooth and user-friendly, making it easy to navigate through diagnostics, maintenance functions, and settings. It connects quickly to vehicles and reads codes fast without lag.”

Complete Buying Guide for Best Obd2 Scanner With Evap Test

Essential Factors We Consider

When choosing the best OBD2 scanner with EVAP test, compatibility is key—make sure the tool supports your vehicle’s make, model, and year. Look for scanners with comprehensive system coverage, including EVAP diagnostics, battery testing, and live data streaming. User interface and ease of use matter, especially if you’re a DIYer. Additionally, consider extra features like bidirectional controls, multiple reset functions, and software update policies.

Budget Planning

OBD2 scanners range from basic code readers under $50 to professional-grade tools over $300. Higher-end models often include advanced diagnostics, lifetime updates, and better build quality. Budget wisely by balancing your needs: casual users might opt for an affordable scanner with EVAP testing, while professionals or serious enthusiasts will benefit from investing in advanced models with broader functions.

Final Thoughts

Investing in a reliable OBD2 scanner with EVAP test capabilities can save time and money by helping you diagnose and fix problems early. Choose a model that fits your skill level and vehicle type, and consider future-proof features like software updates. With the right tool, you’ll gain confidence in maintaining your vehicle’s health and passing emissions inspections without surprises.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is an EVAP test on an OBD2 scanner?

A: An EVAP test checks the vehicle’s evaporative emission system for leaks or faults, which helps reduce fuel vapor emissions. It’s crucial for passing emissions tests and diagnosing check engine lights related to fuel vapor leaks.

Q: Are all OBD2 scanners capable of EVAP testing?

A: No, not all basic OBD2 scanners support EVAP testing. You need a scanner with advanced diagnostic functions or specific EVAP mode support to perform this test.

Q: Can I use a Bluetooth OBD2 scanner for EVAP tests?

A: Yes, many Bluetooth scanners paired with smartphones can perform EVAP tests if the app supports it. Just ensure the scanner and app combination offers that feature.

Q: How often should I use an OBD2 scanner with EVAP test?

A: It’s a good idea to scan your vehicle anytime the check engine light comes on or before emissions inspections. Regular scans can help catch EVAP system issues early.

Q: Do OBD2 scanners with battery testers provide accurate battery health data?

A: Generally, yes. Scanners with integrated battery testers give useful health and voltage information, but for detailed battery diagnostics, dedicated battery analyzers might be more precise.

Choosing the best OBD2 scanner with EVAP test empowers you to keep your vehicle in top shape and avoid costly repairs.
