Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “awesome OBD2 Dongle. pairs quickly with my droid phone and the connect is lightning fast, I’d say real time. I bought it to link up to Torque Pro app for my 2014 Mini Clubman S. but ended up using the OBDLink app instead. The OBDLink app has a great assortment of gauges and picks up all the signals and sensors on the N18 engine without setting up custom PIDS. This was a big surprise because that’s why I purchased Torque Pro. However (for BMW/MINI users) some of the sensors are not readily visible to Torque Pro without adding custom PID formulas – like boost readings. Great dongle, best I’ve had yet. Additionally, the OBDLink app also gives a lot of BMW specific trouble codes. that was a nice surprise as well.”

Customer Review: “Product works as expected. Very straight forward setup with the app that is provided. Works with ForScan, SideCar, Car Scanner, and of course OBD-Link.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I’ve owned the Anyscan A30M for over a year and thought it was great for the money. I used it with my IPad. I used it to help fix a couple of my cars and some friend’s cars. The bi-directional and live data features made this a very useful tool and much better than most other scanners in the price range. The updates were free, without needing a subscription, which made this a very cost effective scanner. Then it just stopped working when I really needed it. It would not communicate with my Ipad. I went to the Xtool website but there was no mention of any problems so I thought it was a problem with my A30M. Since I liked the device so much and had a car with some issues, I immediately bought a new one but this new one had the same problem so I wrote to Xtool to tell them there may be a problem with their device. I learned the problem was caused by a software update. They emailed me that the experts were working on a fix and it will be working again in a couple of days. That was over two weeks ago and my new A30M is still not working with my Ipads. There was an update for the app (6.2.1) on the Apple store. I deleted my old version of the App and got the latest version but now It has a new problem. It gives a bluetooth failure error during startup. It still will not communicate with my Ipads. I have three Ipads and none of them can communicate with the A30M. I tried an old Samsung tablet that I had and I was able to get the A30M working. I still have a few issues even with the Samsung, but at least it works. It has been very frustrating trying for a couple of weeks to get it to work with my Ipads. If you have a Android tablet you may be in luck but if you want to use it with an Ipad you may have some problems. Xtool emailed me that everyone else have gotten their A30M working again (but not me). Such a shame for what was a once a fantastic tool. If they come up with a fix that actually works with an Ipad, I’ll update my review.Update**** It works with my Ipad again. This after I bought a new Samsung tablet for the device. I couldn’t wait any longer so I ended up buying the Samsung Tablet to get the A30M to work. I had not been able to use the device for about three weeks and I had a Jeep in need of repair so I bought an Android tablet. Xtool kept in touch and kept helping with my old Ipad and yesterday, after deleting the APP for the third time, rebooting my Ipad and reloading the App onto the Ipad, they finally connected. I was happy because I really like my Ipad Pro but after using both the Android and the Ipad, I think I’m going to keep using the Samsung because it seems to work a little better with the A30m. I also like the interface between the A30M and the Android (Samsung) better. I was very happy with the Xtool support. I think I emailed them just about everyday and they always answered back quickly. They never gave up trying to help. I’ll rate the A30M 5 stars in the future if it keeps working.***Update*** the A30M is still working great and Xtool keeps allowing me to update the software so I’m very happy and raised my rating to 5 stars.”

Customer Review: “⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 10 STARS! This Tool Proved the Shop Wrong and Saved Me Thousands! If you do any work on your own cars, STOP SEARCHING AND BUY THIS. The XTOOL Anyscan A30M V2.0 is the best investment I’ve ever made. It has already paid for itself ten times over by catching expensive mistakes that professional mechanics missed.Real-World Wins with this Tool:The “Fan” vs. “Thermostat” Mystery: The shop insisted my cooling fan was dead and wanted to charge me for a replacement. I used the Bi-Directional controls on the A30M to diagnosed, the real issue was the thermostat, replaced it myself, and the car is back to normal. The “Starter” Lie: A shop told me my starter was going bad because auto off feature stopped working and quoted me a fortune. I used the tool to check the system and proved it was actually just a weak battery. I replaced the battery and used the Battery Reprogramming feature to register it to the car in minutes. Headache avoided! The “Dead” Power Seat: My electronic seat stopped moving and I thought the motor was fried. I used the Seat Normalization feature to run the calibration (moving it up, down, left, right, forward, and back). Now the seat works perfectly—no parts needed!Brakes & More: I diagnosed my brakes with zero issues and used the service resets to finish the job professionally. Why this is the “Best Ever”:The app is incredibly useful and intuitive for both Android and iPhone. Having dealership-level features like Crank Sensor Relearn, EPB, and Throttle Relearn in my pocket is a game-changer. Plus, the Lifetime Free Updates mean I never have to pay a monthly subscription fee like other brands.Bottom Line: This tool gives you the power to challenge a mechanic’s “diagnosis” with real data. Don’t let a shop guess with your money—get this and know for sure!”

Customer Review: “Easy to use, just plug it in. Worked for my 2025 Jeep Gladiator and 2020 BMW M2. On the Gladiator I reset the halogen lights to LED and on the BMW I was able to “register” my new battery. Saved me alot of money from paying dealer. Works with JScan (iPhone) on the Jeep and with BimmerLink on the BMW. Recommended.”

Customer Review: “Wow. These are so much better than the old strictly DTC code readersI was able to easily check and monitor the short term and long term fuel trims (STFT/LTFT) on my son’s car which enabled troubleshooting of a persistent P0071 too lean condition.I use it with the CAR SCANNER PRO app which can be had for free or upgraded to pro like I did for a one time payment of like $15.So many parameters can be monitored and added to a custom dashboard so you can watch them live even.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I have been using this obd2 scanner for almost a year, and I could not be happier about its function and quality. I use it to check my car, my family’s cars, and even my neighbor’s car, and it always works perfectly. It not only reads the error codes but also deletes them, and this is a great function because not all scanners can delete codes. My favorite feature is the whole system scan, it scans everything and helps you understand the complete health conditions of your vehicle, including engine, ABS, SRS, transmission, etc. If there is an error code, the App will tell you the code definition, layman’s definition, and effect on the vehicle, so even people who don’t have car knowledge can understand. My neighbor told me that the repair shop charged him $120 for just scanning his car, and this scanner is only $70, and I can use it to scan an unlimited number of cars, so it saves me a lot of money. Sometimes I do a whole system scan even when there is no issue, just to make sure everything is right.Another good thing about the product is that the companion App RS2 is free, no subscription fee. I saw some reviews here saying that they have to pay for the App, I don’t think that is true because I have never been charged. The scanner can also help you prepare for the SMOG test. If your car is older than 10 years, like mine, the DMV will ask you to do a SMOG test every 2 years. The scanner has 3 color lights on the App, and if you see a green, that means you can pass the SMOG, and if you see yellow or red, that means your car will not pass SMOG check and the App will tell you what repair is needed to pass the test, and this is very convenient. The scanner has a lot of functions and provides more information than I share, and you can explore it yourself, it is fun. I will recommend this product to every car owner.”

Customer Review: “As a seasoned mechanic with over a decade of experience, I’ve used many different scan tools, including professional ones that cost thousands of dollars. However, the block tech 430, with a price tag less than $90, introduced into my shop by fellow technicians surprised me.The product uses a proprietary App called RepairSoluitons2, which is free and no subscription fee, and the firmware update is also free, great for the business. The App setup process is easy and intuitive. There is no limitation on how many vehicles you can scan, and all the vehicle scan reports are stored in the App (cloud, I guess), and you can share or print the reports, which is very convenient. Some other scan tools in the market charge a subscription fee of $50 or $100, and they don’t tell you upfront, which I consider dishonest. One feature I particularly appreciate is that the 430 works offline. Last Thursday, a customer called me when their vehicle wouldn’t start. I was able to use the app without needing Wi-Fi or LTE and quickly pinpoint a fault with the spark plug based on the engine code. It was truly impressive and solidified my belief that this is a perfect tool for my needs. When a 2015 Camry came in with a check engine light, the app swiftly pinpointed a faulty coolant sensor (code: P1290), allowing me to identify and fix an open harness issue between the sensor and ECM, resolving the problem efficiently.Another example, a P0420 code indicated an issue with the catalyst system efficiency in a 2022 Toyota Highlander, the tool facilitated a thorough diagnosis, enabling me to clean the catalyst system and restore the functionality. The tool also works on European vehicles such as tire and brake light issues, and I also used it for battery status check many times, which also works pretty well. The inclusion of information such as OEM maintenance schedules, predicted repairs based on mileage, OEM warranty details, TSB, and recall information adds immense value to both me and my customers.I highly recommend this product to anyone who needs to take care of their vehicles, professional and DIYer.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “Great product worth every penny app is a bit pricey if your not going to use it often but a must have tool for car repair tells you codes and exact issues also tells you step by step how to fix it. As well as an AI mechanic to asked question and call support as well it helps you know a price range for shops so you don’t get over charged for repairs. I used it yesterday when looking at a car which had no codes on the dash FIXD told me the pending codes and also made me aware the codes were recently cleared which gave me such piece of mind. Knowing a serious community de was cleared prior to me looking at the vehicle. I’ve decided to pay for the year subscription”

Customer Review: “This little item works great, but it has a small caveat if you want its full functionality. As OBDII scanners go, this one does the job at a fraction of the price of a professional scanner. It shows all the information on the screen in an easy to set up software with an intuitive menu. Easy for even the least mechanically inclined people to use. However, you’ll need a separate iPhone, iPad, or Android device to install the app onto.It color codes the issues as to their importance. Green means you should be fine and it’s more of a suggestion than an issue, Yellow means check it out soon or have a mechanic take a look, Red means you should probably stop driving your car and set it on fire. Just kidding. But the information is displayed fully with the OBDII codes along with the explanations as to what they are. In my case, there was a Stored Code and a few Pending Codes. The Stored Code defined what the code is, however the Pending Codes showed ‘Unknown Issue’. I had to go online later to look them up. There’s also an option to clear the dash lights that did not work for me. So does the scanner work? Definitely. Is it worth it? Probably not, and here’s why.The caveat I mentioned? You have to purchase their Premium version at a yearly fee of $99.00 if you want to unlock the scanner’s full potential. It includes;”Cost and repair estimates from the Identifix database, Unlimited calls to our FIXD Mechanic Hotline for a trusted second opinion and DIY help from our network of ASE certified mechanics, And much more! FIXD Premium is a monthly subscription that is optional and is not required for use of the sensor.”After the purchase price of $37, that makes this little bugger $137 right off the bat, with an additional $99/year after that. However, they do let you try it free for one week (cancel at any time). If you’re using this scanner for multiple vehicles, and you’re getting paid for it, then you might find the fee not so much of an inconvenience. However, if you’re like me and are only using it on your daily driver, how often do you think you’re going to use it to qualify that fee? I used it this once, found the codes, and now it’ll probably sit on a shelf until the next time the need arises for it. And since I’m mechanically inclined, I can resolve the issues on my own. But, again, ‘the subscription is optional and is not required for use of the sensor.’If you want a scanner that offers more functionality with no extra costs involved then purchase one of those instead. But if you’re an average Joe or Jolene and you just want to see why your car has those dash lights always on, then this little guy does the job just fine.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “The Ultimate Diagnostic Powerhouse (5/5 Stars) I’ve used several scanners, but the Innova 5610 is in a league of its own. It’s not just a code reader; it’s a professional-grade diagnostic tool that saves me hundreds in dealership fees. What I Love:Bidirectional Control: This is the game-changer. I can actually send commands to the car—like testing the fuel pump, AC clutch, or electronic parking brakes—to see exactly what’s failing before I start pulling parts.Dealership-Level Features: It handles advanced tasks like ABS bleeding, battery initialization, and oil light resets that most consumer scanners can’t touch.Comprehensive Coverage: It provides enhanced diagnostics for ABS, SRS (airbags), transmission, and engine systems across almost all vehicles from 1996 and newer.Repair Integration: The Bluetooth pairing with the RepairSolutions 2 app is seamless, giving me access to a massive database of verified fixes for the specific codes it finds.Verdict: If you’re a serious DIYer or a mechanic who wants dealership-level calibration and relearn capabilities at a fraction of the cost, this is the one to get. It’s robust, fast, and incredibly intuitive.”

Customer Review: “The 2025 Kingbolen Ediag Elite OBD2 scanner came in a sleek/modern design. It arrived inside its own little case and was nicely packaged. The black and silver reinvented design was somewhat appealing, but mostly the lifetime free software update (no yearly renewal) was the deal breaker for me. The device came packed with all vehicle systems, 15 service resets, and lifetime free software update. It seems solid enough although not rubberized on the outside like the other Ediag. Instructions on how to install the Ediag app and create an account to activate the device were included in the box. When the device is plugged into the OBD2 port of the car, it shows a green light; once you access the Ediag app and tap any function, the light turns blue. The first time, you may have to wait a little for the system to be updated for your specific vehicle. Then, you can run a health test that will show you the overall state of your vehicle while pinpointing each specific issue. You have the option to save the findings as a report or PDF file and they will be saved in the app icon titled “Reports”; it also has an app icon titled “History” that contains all the vehicles that you have diagnosed with the scanner. This is an amazing device for that price and it comes with so many perks. While I wish that the manufacturer would have kept the outside rubber cover in the Ediag Elite design for added protection, I really like the modern look of the device. When not in use, I will make sure to keep the device in its hard case so that it lasts a long time allowing me to enjoy the free lifetime updates. Currently, the cost of the device is around $100 on Amazon. For the things I was able to observe, do, and even manipulate in my vehicles with the Ediag Elite (easily turned off that TPMS light), it is worth every penny in my opinion. This device can access the immobilizer to program keys for some (not all) vehicles. The special functions I tested all worked well and without any issue. At this price and for the time being, I think that it is fair to give this device a rating of 4.75 out 5 as it meets expectations for functionality, connectivity, ease of use, portability, and level of accuracy. If the outside of the device was rubberized, I would have definitely given it the full 5 stars in my first impression review. I will report back if I see any change in these expectations as I continue to use the device.”

Complete Buying Guide for Best Obd2 Scanner For Phone

Essential Factors We Consider

When choosing the best OBD2 scanner for phone, consider compatibility with your vehicle’s make and model, as not all scanners support manufacturer-specific protocols. Bluetooth connectivity quality is critical for reliable real-time data without lag. Also, check if the scanner supports iOS, Android, or both. Features like bidirectional testing, advanced service resets, and app support can add great value depending on your needs. Finally, consider device durability and customer support reputation.

Budget Planning

OBD2 scanners range from simple code readers costing under $30 to advanced, professional-grade tools exceeding $150. Basic scanners handle generic OBD-II codes and are suitable for casual users. More expensive models offer OEM-level diagnostics, active tests, and extensive reset functions. Decide your budget based on how deep you want to diagnose issues and whether you need advanced maintenance features. Remember to factor in possible app subscription fees if applicable.

Choose a device that matches your technical comfort level and vehicle compatibility. Reliable Bluetooth connection, good app integration, and useful features ensure you get accurate diagnostics on the go.
