Customer Reviews

Customer Review: Awesome OBD2 Dongle. Pairs quickly with my droid phone and the connect is lightning fast, I’d say real time. I bought it to link up to Torque Pro app for my 2014 Mini Clubman S. but ended up using the OBDLink app instead. The OBDLink app has a great assortment of gauges and picks up all the signals and sensors on the N18 engine without setting up custom PIDS. This was a big surprise because that’s why I purchased Torque Pro. However (for BMW/MINI users) some of the sensors are not readily visible to Torque Pro without adding custom PID formulas – like boost readings. Great dongle, best I’ve had yet. Additionally, the OBDLink app also gives a lot of BMW specific trouble codes. that was a nice surprise as well.

Customer Review: Product works as expected. Very straight forward setup with the app that is provided. Works with ForScan, SideCar, Car Scanner, and of course OBD-Link.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: Easy to use, just plug it in. Worked for my 2025 Jeep Gladiator and 2020 BMW M2. On the Gladiator I reset the halogen lights to LED and on the BMW I was able to “register” my new battery. Saved me alot of money from paying dealer. Works with JScan (iPhone) on the Jeep and with BimmerLink on the BMW. Recommended.

Customer Review: Wow. These are so much better than the old strictly DTC code readers. I was able to easily check and monitor the short term and long term fuel trims (STFT/LTFT) on my son’s car which enabled troubleshooting of a persistent P0071 too lean condition. I use it with the CAR SCANNER PRO app which can be had for free or upgraded to pro like I did for a one time payment of like $15. So many parameters can be monitored and added to a custom dashboard so you can watch them live even.

Customer Review: Works great with my iPhone 16Pro running iOS 26.3 and 26.2.1. Just used this morning with Carista app on iPhone customizing my 4Runner settings. Haven’t tried on iPad yet. One app took a long time to connect but finally did “car scanner elm obd2”. Not sure why though. But it works great after it connects and lots of customization abilities in free version, surprising! But great.

Customer Review: My second unit. I had one for my JKU. Now have a Gladiator. Works great. Way cheaper and easier to operate than the tazer ones.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: Works great and pairs easily with android phone. Works great with Car Scanner app. Should work with apps requiring a ELM327 OBD2 bluetooth interface. Good little device for the $

Customer Review: I’ve been using this on a 2000 Buick Park Avenue. I use “Torque Pro” on Android and bought all the paid features to go along with it because it works so well. I tried “Torque Lite” first, which was free. Great app, imo. My phone is a Galaxy S10+ (Snapdragon 855 8 core/8GB RAM/UFS 2.1 storage @ 6gbps/Bluetooth 5.0). I am not sure what version of Bluetooth this device uses. I am assuming 4.0 from the info I’m able to find. The hardware seems to be moderately powerful because I can load my screen up with gauges and have zero slowdowns.. ever. No jamming, no lost connections. I’ve seriously yet to have an issue with this product or the software I’m using with it. I assume the data transfer rate of BT5.0 or higher isn’t necessary. I can log .csv files and open them with any app that can read them (like Chrome, for example). But it can log and show live data without any hitches. I’d recommend it to a friend. It’s mentioned everywhere, but just realize you need Android, you need Bluetooth and you need SOME kind of compatible software on your Android device that can utilize this scanner. As mentioned, I am using Torque Pro. You can change how fast some items update vs others, but a lot of mine are updating at least twice a second (I can go faster or slower) and like I said, even with a page full of data being updated, there’s no slowdowns. It doesn’t get hot. It constantly and smoothly updates, whew, for example, MPH (You can use GPS or OBDII speed, in this instance, I’m using OBDII and a screen to show the difference in OBDII speed vs GPS), RPM, Vacuum, Intake Temp, Load %, Throttle %, EVAP usage and more. I can’t even remember what all I have on one screen. You can add formulas (you can find them online) and see if they will work for your car, too. They are for the Torque app. I can reset my codes without issue. I have a massive vacuum leak. Being a 2000 Park Avenue with the 3800 II @ 120kish miles, I’m fairly certain it’s the LIM gasket. It’s some head/intake gasket that blows on them all between cyl. 4 and 5, because I’ve had misfires there. So I got it to just mainly keep an eye on my one code that keeps popping up (IAC can’t control the high idle) and ended up being able to see so much more. I really love this tool. I use it EVERY time I drive haha. I love looking down and seeing MAF cfm flow, intake temp, Volumetric Efficiency (terrible with the vacuum leak) and more. Just so many little things I didn’t expect to be able to see and all updating perfectly like clockwork. So, yeah, some of this praise is to the software, but the hardware, itself, is flawless at sending data all through Bluetooth, somehow, with zero slowdowns. I’m impressed.

Cons:
  • Needs manual reconnection each time vehicle starts
  • No automatic pairing after initial setup
  • Some apps may require subscription for full features

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: I think this OBDII scanner is a GREAT price for all that this device offers. I can see LIVE data. Like 02 sensors, my CAT temp, I can clear codes. The list goes on and on. I bought this to test out in both my vehicles. 2011 Chevy equinox ls with a code, needing new 02 sensors. Now that I was able to see the live data of what the readings were I know where to start. I also used this on my 2014 Chevy Sonic that Chevy decided didn’t need a temperature gauge in a car they put the crappiest cooling systems in. The thermostat housing on Chevy Sonic’s is PLASTIC. They designed them to break. I’ve had no issue switching the scanner back and forth between the cars. I do have to make sure I switch the profiles so the data isn’t saved to the wrong car. That is my only complaint. And the fact that I have to reconnect every time I get in my vehicles. I do wish it was an auto-pair after the initial pairing. I will be purchasing a second one so I don’t have to continue to switch the scanner back and forth. Also the torque app isn’t free, at least not on iPhone. It requires a subscription. The car scanner app is the one for iOS, and completely free.

Customer Review: I had it for over a year now, and one of the best things that I bought, it works with all kinds of apps that use obd2 scanning connects to the truck quick it’s not too big where my leg is not hitting it and the indicators are bright enough to know what’s going on

  • Maintenance tracking for multiple vehicles
  • Compact and portable sensor design
Cons:
  • Full functionality requires costly subscription
  • Some codes may show as unknown pending issues
  • Clearing dash lights may not always work

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: Great product worth every penny app is a bit pricey if your not going to use it often but a must have tool for car repair tells you codes and exact issues also tells you step by step how to fix it. As well as an AI mechanic to asked question and call support as well it helps you know a price range for shops so you don’t get over charged for repairs. I used it yesterday when looking at a car which had no codes on the dash FIXD told me the pending codes and also made me aware the codes were recently cleared which gave me such piece of mind. Knowing a serious community de was cleared prior to me looking at the vehicle. I’ve decided to pay for the year subscription

Customer Review: This little item works great, but it has a small caveat if you want its full functionality. As OBDII scanners go, this one does the job at a fraction of the price of a professional scanner. It shows all the information on the screen in an easy to set up software with an intuitive menu. Easy for even the least mechanically inclined people to use. However, you’ll need a separate iPhone, iPad, or Android device to install the app onto. It color codes the issues as to their importance. Green means you should be fine and it’s more of a suggestion than an issue, Yellow means check it out soon or have a mechanic take a look, Red means you should probably stop driving your car and set it on fire. Just kidding. But the information is displayed fully with the OBDII codes along with the explanations as to what they are. In my case, there was a Stored Code and a few Pending Codes. The Stored Code defined what the code is, however the Pending Codes showed ‘Unknown Issue’. I had to go online later to look them up. There’s also an option to clear the dash lights that did not work for me. So does the scanner work? Definitely. Is it worth it? Probably not, and here’s why. The caveat I mentioned? You have to purchase their Premium version at a yearly fee of $99.00 if you want to unlock the scanner’s full potential. It includes; “Cost and repair estimates from the Identifix database, Unlimited calls to our FIXD Mechanic Hotline for a trusted second opinion and DIY help from our network of ASE certified mechanics, And much more! FIXD Premium is a monthly subscription that is optional and is not required for use of the sensor.” After the purchase price of $37, that makes this little bugger $137 right off the bat, with an additional $99/year after that. However, they do let you try it free for one week (cancel at any time). If you’re using this scanner for multiple vehicles, and you’re getting paid for it, then you might find the fee not so much of an inconvenience. However, if you’re like me and are only using it on your daily driver, how often do you think you’re going to use it to qualify that fee? I used it this once, found the codes, and now it’ll probably sit on a shelf until the next time the need arises for it. And since I’m mechanically inclined, I can resolve the issues on my own. But, again, “the subscription is optional and is not required for use of the sensor.” If you want a scanner that offers more functionality with no extra costs involved then purchase one of those instead. But if you’re an average Joe or Jolene and you just want to see why your car has those dash lights always on, then this little guy does the job just fine.

Complete Buying Guide for Best Bluetooth OBD2 Scanner For Android

Essential Factors We Consider

When choosing the best Bluetooth OBD2 scanner for Android, compatibility is key. Ensure the scanner supports your vehicle’s make, model, and year, particularly if it’s a pre-1996 model, which may not be compatible with OBD2 standards. Bluetooth version matters too; newer versions like 5.0 and above offer better connection stability and speed. The app experience is another critical factor—look for scanners with intuitive apps that provide clear diagnostics and live data. Durability and size also matter since you want a device that doesn’t obstruct your driving space and can withstand regular use.

Budget Planning

OBD2 scanners vary widely in price. Basic models offer essential code reading and clearing functions at affordable prices, while advanced scanners include OEM-specific diagnostics, bi-directional controls, and multiple reset functions at a premium. Decide how often you’ll use the scanner and what features you truly need. For casual users, a budget-friendly scanner with solid Bluetooth connectivity suffices. For enthusiasts or professional mechanics, investing in a higher-end model with advanced features may be worthwhile.

Final Thoughts

Picking the right Bluetooth OBD2 scanner for Android enhances your ability to monitor vehicle health conveniently. Whether you prefer a no-frills budget scanner or a feature-rich professional tool, prioritize compatibility, connectivity, and ease of use. With the right scanner, you save time and money by identifying issues early and managing repairs efficiently.
